"Today (11th Jan 2025) marks the formal cutting up on site of 43161, outshopped in 1981 and withdrawn in approximately 2019, 38 years of service, having previously given up her engine, alternator and raft of other spares to the previous owners fleet of power cars to keep them in service, and a second round of component recovery taken place in the last week by both Ellacombe Engineering Services staff & volunteers of the host railway.

Today the contractors arrived on site this morning to start the disposal of the remaining bodywork and underframe releasing the final big components in readiness for their onward travel to their new owners.

Whilst it's a sad sight, she's going on to give up components to keep other preserved power cars in operation, raise funds for the host railways power cars cosmetic restoration as well as being a good learning curve in how final vehicle dismantling is done by the experts in scrap materials, our thanks to the contractors for being willing to go through the process with us."

They'll be a further update in the next few days on one of the larger components from 43161 that's been removed by EES for future use with ourselves as part of our future aims & objectives.
